MATTAWAMKEAG and LINCOLN – Cecilia Maxine Farrell, 86, wife of the late Leslie C. Farrell, passed away Feb. 12, 2011, at a local nursing home. She was born Oct. 27, 1924, in Weston, daughter of Marion (Schillinger) and Tyson Veysey.
Cecilia had lived in Danforth and was a graduate of Danforth High School. She was a member of Mattawamkeag Baptist Church, serving as organist for several years. She worked at various occupations including, postmistress, store clerk and cook at Skip’s Take-out. She was a dedicated mother and always had a kind word for everyone.
She is survived by a son, Lawrence Farrell of Woodstock, New Brunswick; daughters, Janice Rideout and Peggy and Maurice Leach, all of Mattawamkeag and Jolayne DiCentes of Medway; a stepdaughter, Glenna Derrick of Canterbury, New Brunswick; a sister, Margaret Cottle of East Millinocket; sisters-in-law, Joyce Veysey of Bangor and Theresa Farrell of Halifax, Nova Scotia; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Leslie, she was predeceased by a daughter, Jean; sisters, Janette Simpson and Mame London; and brothers, Darrell Veysey and Merle Stewart.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mattawamkeag Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve McNally officiating. Spring interment will be at Mattawamkeag Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Mattawamkeag Baptist Church.
