LYNN, Mass. – Mr. and Mrs. Harmon S. and Dorothy L. (Frummerin) Boyce would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this July.

Harmon, 94, was born in Lincoln, son of the late Milledge H. and Etta (Budge) Boyce. He was a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy and also attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Harmon worked as a foreman in the General Electric turbine department for 43 years, until his retirement in 1979. A skilled gunsmith, he was a member of Reading Rifle and Revolver Club. He was also a member of Damascus Lodge AF & AM, GE Apprentice Alumni Association and GE Old Timers Club.

Dorothy, who turned 93, Feb. 24, was born in Brockton, Mass., daughter of the late Josephine (Waitte) Clement. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School. In her younger years, she worked for McClellan’s Department Store and Enterprise Department Store, Lynn, Mass. Her most important role was as a mother and homemaker. She was also a seamstress and enjoyed gardening. She was active with Rainbow Girls as well as Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. Dorothy also taught English as a Second Language for many years to Cambodians and Laotians.

Harmon and Dorothy were avid roller-skaters, which is how they met, roller-skating in Nahant, Mass. They delighted in the times they shared together and made many memories that way. They were active members of East Baptist Church; Harmon was a deacon elder and Dorothy was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Their lives centered around their faith and their church. They spent much of their spare time ministering to others, young and old; and they will be remembered as people who were always willing to be there for anyone who needed them. They loved to spend their summers vacationing in Maine and also enjoyed riding motorcycles. Spending time outdoors together was one of the things that made them happiest.

They are survived by their two children, Frances Davis and her husband, Bob, of Wisconsin, and Harmon S. Boyce Jr. and his wife, Kathi, of Vermont; three grandchildren, Timothy Davis, Kurt Boyce and Michelle Jewell; eight great-grandchildren, Haydn, Michaela, Daniel and Benjamin Davis, Samuel Boyce, and Mackenzie, Alexandria and Martin Jewell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Harmon is the brother of Irene Nelson, Viola Stoupe, Bernice Kinney, and Dot Round and her husband, David, and the late Nonie Kelshaw, Lel Dicker and Milledge Boyce. Dorothy was predeceased by her foster brother, and sister, Roy Moult and Margie Johnson.

A memorial service celebrating their lives will be held noon Saturday, Feb. 26, at East Baptist Church, 300 Western Ave., Lynn, Mass. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for the purpose of repointing the bricks to East Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 Western Ave., Lynn, MA 01904. Directions and guest book at
