MOUNT DESERT – Grace Butler Bordeaux, 95, died Feb. 24, 2011, in Northeast Harbor, with her husband and family by her side. She was born July 15, 1915, in Seal Cove, the daughter of Alfred H. and Josephine (Harper) Butler.

Grace worked as a professional cook for private residents. She worked for the William Burden family and Donald and Beth Strauss.

She is survived by her husband, Meredith “Bud” Bordeaux of Mount Desert; one son, Chester A. Lewis Jr. and wife, Wilma, of Trenton; six daughters, Janet Mitchell and husband, Gardner, of Southwest Harbor, Pricilla Oberheu and husband, Duane, of Mississippi, Lucille Grant and husband, George, of Newport, Sally Beadle and husband, Tom, of Washington, Sharon Richardson and husband, John, of Franklin and Marilyn Damon of Northeast Harbor; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Grace was predeceased by her husbands, Chester A. Lewis Sr. and Richard E. Merchant; one daughter, Blanche Harper; and grandchildren, James Black Jr. and Michael Fordham.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Buchanan officiating.
