CARIBOU – Nancy Marie Merchant, 65, died Feb. 26, 2011, with her family by her side after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 21, 1946, in Stockholm, the daughter of Alphonse and Edwina Peters. Nancy was raised in Presque Isle.

In 1962 she married Leon Merchant and moved to Caribou, where together they raised five children and have made their home for 48 years. Nancy cherished the time spent with her family, whether at home, at nana and dada’s camp or up on the woods on their property. Nancy was employed at Save-A-Lot since the opening of the store in Caribou.

She leaves behind her husband, Leon; daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and John Lyons, and grandson, Richard; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Kent Cousins, granddaughters, Heather and Logan, and great-granddaughters, Keegan and Brooklyn; daughter, Lisa, granddaughter, Kilee, and great-granddaughter, Zoe; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Mitchell Green, grandsons, Joshua and Dustin, granddaughter, Emma, and great-grandson, Issac; and son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Kim Merchant, and grandsons, Brock and Blake.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 3, with the Rev. Aaron Damboise officiating. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at
