CASWELL – Ulyesse J. Bernier, 63, beloved husband of Mrs. Donna M. (Berube) Bernier, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, Feb. 27, 2011, at his residence. He was born Nov. 21, 1947, in Caswell, the son of Odule and Yvonne (Ouelette) Bernier.

He attended Caswell and Limestone schools, graduating from Limestone High School in 1966. Mr. Bernier went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Infantry during the Vietnam War. Ulyesse was married to Donna M. Berube Nov. 28, 1970, and was a lifelong communicant of St. Louis Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood, Limestone. He was employed by the U.S. Civil Service at the former Loring Air Force Base from 1977 to 1994. He later was employed from 1999 to present by Loring Development Authority of Maine as a water treatment plant operator. He was also active in Caswell town affairs, serving as tax collector and treasurer. He was a member of Limestone Knights of Columbus and Van Buren American Legion. Mr. Bernier was a fun loving man who loved and was good to everyone he met. He will be remembered by his family as a wonderful son, husband, father and brother.

In addition to his parents, Ulyesse was predeceased by one brother, Ruben Bernier; his father-in-law, Guy Berube Sr.; and a sister-in-law, Judy Stoudt. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna M. Bernier of Caswell; one daughter, Stacy L. Bernier and her companion, Bryan A. Shaw, both of Presque Isle; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Eldon and Joan Bernier of Caswell, Melvin and Martha Bernier of Limestone, and Berton and Marian Bernier of Methuen, Mass.; three sisters and brother-in-law, Geraldine Bernier of Anniston, Ala., Artheline Bernier of Caswell, and Bernet and Frank Bagley Jr. of Caribou; in-laws, Earl and Norma Lambrecht, Terry and Christine Berube, Candy West, all of Limestone, Patrick and Shelly Berube of Lisbon Falls; mother-in-law, Juanita Berube of Limestone; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood, 302 Main St., Limestone, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie celebrant. Interment with military honors will take place at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou, at a later date. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at the St. Louis Catholic Church Parish Hall immediately after the funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in Mr. Bernier’s memory to the Robert A. Frost Memorial Library Building Fund, 43 Main St., Limestone, ME 04750. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
