BEVERLY, Mass., and WASHBURN – Steward Philip Doody, 81, passed over Tuesday, March 1, 2011, with his family by his side at Beverly Hospital. He was born Nov. 28, 1929, in a little red schoolhouse in Wade, son of the late Whitfield and Edna (Doucette) Doody.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary (Bobola) Doody of Beverly, Mass.; one son and his wife, Stephen and Beverly Doody of Levant; one daughter and her husband, Deborah (Doody) and John Drost of Washburn; six stepchildren; four grandsons and their spouses, Ryan and Michelle Doody, Robin Drost, John and Kristie Drost, Stephen and Amber Drost; 15 stepgrandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and six great-stepgrandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Elwood “Woody” Doody of Perham; one sister, A. Kay Doody of Vero Beach, Fla.; and a special family friend, Sharon Spooner, also of Vero Beach, Fla. He was predeceased by two brothers, Floyd Doody, formerly of Naugatuck, Conn., and Coy Doody, formerly of Sanford; one sister, Patricia (Doody) Tarbox, formerly of Washburn; one stepson and one stepson-in-law. Mr. Doody will be truly missed by all those who were lucky enough to have passed through his life.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral Mass 9 a.m. Friday, March 4, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 52 Linebrook Road, Ipswich, Mass. Burial will be at New Highland Cemetery, 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich, Mass. There will be no visiting hours.
