HOWLAND – Thelma Pearl (Sage) Leavitt, wife of the late Charles R. Leavitt, passed away peacefully March 3, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born April 30, 1913, in Howland, daughter of the late Albert and Ethel (Lancaster) Sage.
Thelma was a graduate of Howland High School. She went on to work at Northern Craft Advanced Bag and Paper Co., Howland, later working at Buck’s Drug Store, Ralph Leavitt and Sons grocery store and Howland Co-op. She loved her family dearly and was always there to lend a helping hand no matter what the situation. Although she didn’t have any children of her own, her nieces and nephews were very special to her. We will all miss her very much.
She is survived by a brother, Gerald Sage; three sisters, Althea Sage, Glenna Leavitt and Mona Swett and husband, Donald; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Sage, all of Howland. She was predeceased by a sister and her husband, Edith and James Currie; three brothers and their wives, Kermit and Margaret Sage, Elwin and Marion Sage, and Reginald and Millie Sage; a brother, Lloyd Sage; and a sister-in-law, Elsie Sage.
At Thelma’s request, there will be no visiting hours. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Howland Cemetery.
