EAST MILLINOCKET – Chester L. Pelkey died peacefully in his sleep March 8, 2011, at Millinocket Regional Hospital. He was born Nov. 14, 1928, the son of William Pelkey and Lottie Coolong.

Chester served in the U.S. Navy in 1951 before working for Great Northern Paper Co., where he cut wood for many, many years. He also worked for Carl Preble Oil before going back to Great Northern paper mill in Millinocket, from which he retired in 1990. Chester, a very quiet and private man, was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Maureen Labby; his daughter, Sandra and her husband, Robert Arsenault; his son, Chester M. and his wife, Beverly; his daughter, Brenda and her husband, Andrew Watt; and his son, Matthew. He is also survived, remembered, loved and missed by his grandchildren, Tracy, Holly, Jason, Lisa, Kevin, Aaron, Amanda and Stephanie. In addition he is survived by his sisters, Leona Fitzgerald and Mildred Mattall; along with a brother, Johnny Pelkey; countless nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
