PHIPPSBURG and SEBASCO ESTATES – Warner Reese Alexander, 72, died Friday, March 4, 2011, after a brief illness at Mid Coast Hospital, Brunswick. He was born Aug. 20, 1938, in Sebasco Estates, a son of Calvin A. Alexander and C. Phyllis (Darling) Alexander.

He attended school in Sebasco, where he had lived his whole life. He married Ellie Blethan (Manion) June 12, 1958, in Bath. He retired in 1995 after 38 years of dedication to Bath Iron Works. He received various awards throughout his years of work at Bath Iron Works. He continued to work various jobs after he retired because he loved being with people so much and he was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and anything to do with the outdoors. Warner put his whole self and passion for the art of woodworking into any project he worked on.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ellie; his five children, James Alexander of Phippsburg, Sue Alexander of Leeds, Joanne Wells and husband, Proctor, of Phippsburg, Victor Alexander and wife, Ellen, of Brewer and Janice Medenica and husband, Jagos, of Belgrade, Serbia; his 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Ilene Hinds of Brunswick; his brother, Calvin Alexander and wife, Sharon, of Johnstown, Ohio; and his sister, Sharon Shaw and husband, Daniel, of Thomaston. He was predeceased by his parents, the Rev. Calvin and Phyllis Alexander, in October 2002.

A viewing will take place 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Desmond Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath. Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Small Point Baptist Church, Phippsburg, with a reception afterward. Donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to Phippsburg Fire Department, where he served for many years.
