BELFAST, Maine — A Thorndike man nearing the end of a prison sentence was arrested again Monday after police say they caught him smuggling contraband goods — a cell phone.

Michael Anthony Brillard, 25, had been serving time at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset but had been returned to Waldo County Jail when he somehow obtained a cell phone and hid it from authorities, according to Waldo County Chief Deputy Robert Keating.

“He allegedly used the cell phone to call and harass a citizen,” Keating said Wednesday.

Brillard was charged with violation of condition of release and trafficking in prison contraband.
