MILLINOCKET – Richard L. Cote Sr., 84, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at a Millinocket hospital. He was born Nov. 10, 1926, in Presque Isle, the son of Albert and Hazel (Glover) Cote.

Richard was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Francis Elliott Post No. 4154, Millinocket. He loved riding motorcycles and had one for many years. Richard was a gentle and loving father and grandfather, but had an inner strength which sustained him through multiple battles with cancer.

He is survived by five children, Richard Cote Jr. and his wife, Dianna, of Millinocket, Robert Cote and his wife, Betty, of West Sebois, Sharon Hamilton and her husband, Linwood, of Millinocket, Linda Langlais of Millinocket and Joann Cote of Millinocket and her fiance, Alan Gilbert, of Georgia; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Richard is also survived by the mother of his children, Yvonne Caron of Millinocket. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia Charette; and a brother, Albert Cote Jr.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday, March 14, at St. Martin of Tours of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Spring interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Richard may be sent to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME
