BANGOR – James “Jim” R. Harrington, 72, died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 30, 1938, in Boston.
Jim was a longtime resident of Glastonbury, Conn., and moved to Bangor in 1981 and later to Levant. He enjoyed a long career as a contractor. Jim had many hobbies including reading, gardening and traveling. He loved animals, helping others and was a friend of Bill W. for 39 years.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Kim Harrington Harris and her husband, Ronny, of Zebulon, N.C.; son, Michael Harrington of Buckeye, Ariz.; brother, Thomas Harrington and his wife, Donna, of Marco Island, Fla.; grandchildren, Shawn Harris of Zebulon, N.C., and Kevin Harris of Wendell, N.C.; stepchildren, Donna Corson and her husband, Allan, of Cornville and David Piella and his wife, Nancy, of Colchester, Conn.; stepgrandchildren, Dawn Gordon of Old Orchard Beach, Nathan Marone of Ontario, Calif., Shellee Marone of New Hampshire and Seth Piella of Colchester, Conn.; and great-grandchildren, Zachary Gordon of Old Orchard Beach and Lexi Marone of Rochester, N.H. He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Doris Harrington; brother, Charles Harrington; and significant other, Connie Piella. Jim’s family thanks the staff at the Maine Veterans Home, C Unit, for all the care and support throughout his illness.
