COLLEGE STATION, Texas — University of Maine indoor track standout Riley Masters placed ninth in the men’s mile at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday held at Texas A&M.
Black Bears teammate Corey Conner finished 11th out of 15 in the women’s 5,000 meters final on Friday with a time of 16 minutes, 21.61 seconds.
Bangor native Masters finished the mile in 4:02.04, placing ninth of 10 in the finals. Miles Batty of BYU took the win with a time of 3:59.49.
Masters also competed in the 3,000 meters final on Saturday. He placed 17th of 19 with a time of 8:19.95, trailing winner Stanford’s Elliott Heath (8:03.71).
