PITTSFIELD and PALMYRA – David Allen Penney, 56, died peacefully March 13, 2011, with his family by his side at his home. He was born Jan. 21, 1955, in Hartland, a son of Richard and Carolyn (Dunphy) Penney.
He graduated from Skowhegan High School, Class of 1974. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and working with his honeybees. David was a self-employed woodsman, and also worked at Irving Tannery and Snowman’s Oil and Soil.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn M. Penney of Newport; daughter, Amanda Penney and her significant other, Frank “Bub” Turner, of St. Albans; son, David A. Penney II of Bangor; stepsons, Daniel Chamberlain and wife, Leah, of Plymouth and Dominic and wife, Ashley, of Roanoke, Va.; brother, Dale Penney of Pittsfield; sister, Diane Barrett of Lewiston; seven grandchildren; four nephews, Seth and Dylan Penney of Pittsfield and Richard and Matthew Barrett of Lewiston; several aunts, uncles and cousins; special friends, Bill Preble of Corinth and Joe Gould of Gardiner; as well as his former wives, Ginger Penney of Orrington and Kristy Penney of Bangor. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Penney.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with the Rev. Matthew Ward officiating. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of service. Spring burial will be at Pittsfield Village Cemetery. Those who wish may leave written condolences at
