FORT FAIRFIELD – Beulah F. Clark, 97, wife of the late Alton R. Clark, passed away Monday morning, March 14, 2011, at a Houlton nursing facility, after a brief period of declining health. She was born June 26, 1913, in Tilley, New Brunswick, the daughter of John and Rose (O’Neil) Currie.
She moved to Fort Fairfield at age 5 and attended local schools. She was married to Alton R. Clark, April 21, 1934, and in addition to assisting her husband with their farming operation, worked for Fort Fairfield School Department in their food service program for many years. Beulah was also a dedicated, active member of Bethel Baptist Church, Fort Fairfield, for much of her life.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Clark was predeceased by her husband, Alton, Jan. 28, 2000; one son, Gary Clark; one granddaughter, Deborah Clark Shaw; two brothers, Kenneth and Freeman Currie; two sisters, Pauline Ward and Dolly Cyr; and one son-in-law, Leo Blain. She is survived by one daughter, Mavis Blain of South Hadley, Mass.; one granddaughter, Trina Labonte and her husband, Paul, of Agawam, Mass.; five great-grandchildren, Kyle and Ryan Labonte, both of Agawam, Mass., Adam, Michael and Danielle Shaw, all of Ellsworth; two great-great-grandchildren, Rayven Risgner and Kaiden Shaw, both of Ellsworth; two half sisters, Mavis Portwood of Arizona and Annie Barton of Missouri; one sister-in-law, Letha Currie of Fort Fairfield; numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Ruth Shorey of Grand Falls, New Brunswick.
Friends may call 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. with Asa Cook officiating. Spring interment will take place at Green Ridge Cemetery, Caribou. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the funeral service at VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield.
