ADDISON and ORRINGTON – Harriet M. (Trundy) Burgess Martin, 89, died March 15, 2011, at her home. She was born Feb. 16, 1922, in Addison, the daughter of Preston W. and Susie (Nichols) Trundy.

Harriet grew up on Westside Road, Addison, attended SS Nash School and graduated from SS Nash High School in 1942. She worked in local sardine and bean factories, picked blueberries and potatoes, cut brush and made wreathes. In later years, Harriet operated a state licensed boarding home and cared for several aged persons. Retiring in 1984, she moved to Schenectady, N.Y., where she lived for 20 years and then returned to Maine in 2004. She had most recently been living in Orrington with her niece.

Harriet is survived by three nieces. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Warren P. and Walter P. Trundy; her first husband, Walter P. Burgess and her second husband, Thomas Raymond Martin. Harriet’s family gratefully thanks Hospice of St. Joseph for the excellent care and support they provided.

Private burial will be at Church Hill Cemetery, Addison. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, Brewer and Bangor.
