BANGOR and MILWAUKEE – Karen Marie Rice, 58, passed peacefully March 15, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Bangor after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Karen graduated from high school in Wisconsin and worked in health care for more than 30 years until moving to Maine to be with her loving wife, Victoria, where they had nine wonderful years together. Karen loved camping traveling, music, shopping and football, especially the Packers and Cubbies.

In addition to her mother, Frances; and father, Chris, she was predeceased by an aunt, Virginia; and an uncle, Donald. Surviving, in addition to her loving wife, Victoria of Bangor, are a son, Michael Parent of Bangor; a daughter, Mindy Lilley and her husband, Josh, of Hudson; a son, Lance Parent of Bangor; her loving cat, Ranger Girl; a brother, Chris Rice and his wife, Kathy, of Wisconsin; a very special cousin, Melody Schwartz and her husband, Doug; Dale and Donald Dorsen Jr. of Wisconsin; aunt, Angie of Wisconsin; many other brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and cousins; three very special sisters-in-law, Patty Baker and her husband, Doug, of Hermon, Louise Dorr and her husband, Wayne, of Brewer, and Eleanor Boulier of Eddington; a very special niece, Tammy Boulier; and a great-niece, Terri Boulier of whom Karen was very proud. Karen’s family thanks all the medical health care workers who were a part of Karen’s life.

A celebration of Karen’s life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at Hammond Street Congregational Church with the Rev. Mark Doty, pastor, presiding. A fellowship gathering will be held immediately afterward. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Victoria Legassie-Rice, 1160 Ohio St., No. 401, Bangor, ME 04401.
