OLD TOWN – Norman “Norm” R. Buck, 59, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1952, in Portland, the son of Wilfred and Helen (Skinner) Buck.

Norm grew up in Cumberland and was a 1970 graduate of Greely High School. He was a 1974 graduate of the University of Maine and enjoyed his career as a computer analyst. Norm was a longtime member of Orono United Methodist Church and was most recently an active member of Stillwater Federated Church. He enjoyed volunteering and vacations to visit his family in Charleston, S.C. Norm will always be remembered for his fun loving personality, dry wit and putting his family first.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Cornelia Rhoads-Buck; son, Robert Rhoads and his wife, Heather, of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; granddaughter, Charlotte Ann Rhoads; sister, Barbara Westfall and her husband, Randall, of Randolph, N.J.; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Phyllis Rhoads; sisters-in-law, Ruth Vigue, Alecta Doyle and Alesia Higgins; many nieces and nephews. Norm was predeceased by his parents.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 21, at Orono United Methodist Church, 36 Oak St., Orono, with Pastor Steve Smith and the Rev. Joan DeSanctis co-officiating.
