LINCOLN – William O. Edes, 82, husband of Diane (Thomas) Edes, passed away March 23, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at a Brewer health care facility. He was born Dec. 22, 1928, in Burlington, son of Sarah J. (Fickett) and Frederick B. Edes Sr.

Bill graduated from Milbridge High School and spent two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He loved the woods and enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, golf, dancing and his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Diane, he is survived by a brother, Darrell Edes and his wife, Elly, of North Anson; four children, Jeff Edes of Embden, Mark Edes of Utah, Michael Cole and his wife, Dianne, of Hermon, and Betsy and her husband, Andy Vanadestine, of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Michael, Alex, Kristi, Lori, Jeremy, Danielle and Lucas; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Fred; and a great-granddaughter, Haley.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. May 20 at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, with the Rev. Michael Robinson officiating. Interment will be at Mount Repose Cemetery, Burlington.
