BANGOR – Cecilian E. Ward, 85, wife of the late Willis L. Ward, died March 28, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. She was born May 7, 1925, in Jackman, the daughter of Philip and Dianna (Haggan) Nadeau.

Cecilian was valedictorian of her graduating class from Sacred Heart Academy, Jackman. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Parish, Bangor, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Cecilian was a devoted wife and mother.

Surviving are four children, Willis Ward and his wife, Catherine, of Paris, France, Philip Ward and his wife, Cynthia, of Lexington, Ohio, Mary Halsey and her husband, Dennis, of York, Pa., and Katherine Snyder and her husband, Ronald, of Dedham; seven grandchildren, Matthew Ward, David Halsey and his wife, Laurie, Leah Halsey, Nicholas Snyder and his wife, Windy, Bryan Snyder, Sean Snyder and Emily Snyder; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Ward Jr., April Ward and Laney Halsey; nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Gregory Nadeau and his wife, Ann Marie.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, March 31, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ohio Street, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the parish hall after the Mass. Interment will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
