HAMPDEN – H. Elizabeth “Bettie” Colson, 84, wife of the late David Martin Colson, passed away March 28, 2011, at a Bangor hospital, after a long term respiratory illness.
She was born Feb. 28, 1927, in Brewer, the daughter of John L. and Hazel L. (Eaton) Taylor.
Bettie attended Bangor schools and graduated from Bangor High School. She worked at Rogers Jewelers, New Franklin Laundry and Dr. Charles Kimball’s office. She loved playing bridge and played throughout her life up until a few weeks prior to her death.
Surviving are four children, Susan Colson of Chelsea, Mass., Charles Colson of Brewer, Carol Colson of South Portland and Mary Lou Colson of Hampden; one niece, Cynthia Miglietti of Huron, Ohio; one nephew, Charles Miglietti of Dallas; Mary Lou’s dog, Little Bit, who loved and cared for his “Grammy” and was so beloved by her; and many friends from Bangor, Brewer, Hampden, Ellsworth, Lamoine and Sebastian, Fla. Bettie was predeceased by a dear brother and sister, Charles Taylor and Frances Taylor Miglietti.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, North Main Street, Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the parish hall after the Mass. Interment will be at a later date at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Ellsworth.
