GREENVILLE, Maine — An Abbot man who has an extensive background as a firefighter was hired Wednesday as the Greenville Police Department’s second in command.
One of three applicants interviewed for the position, Matthew St. Laurent, 44, was confirmed Wednesday during a selectmen’s meeting.
‘’I enjoy public safety and serving the public,’’ St. Laurent, who attended the meeting, said of his new job.
A reserve officer in Greenville since July 2010, St. Laurent works for Moosehead Cedar Log Homes in Greenville. He will assume his full-time duties with the town on April 20 at a starting salary of $38,000. His salary will be reviewed after he graduates from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in January 2012.
