PORT ORANGE, Fla., and HOULTON – Edward Francis Duffy, 76, went home to be with God April 8, 2011, surrounded by his family at Volusia Hospice, Port Orange, Fla. Born Dec. 28, 1934, in Providence, R.I., Ed was residing in Port Orange, Fla., for the last 10 years with his wife of 54 years, Bernice.
Formerly of Houlton, Ed graduated with the class of 1952 and attended Ricker College. He worked in the field of finance and accounting, and also served in the National Guard. He will always be remembered by his family for his great sense of humor and quick wit.
He is survived by his children, William and Michael of Portland, Diane Hiscoe of Houlton and Ruthann of Seattle; seven grandchildren; his sisters, Patricia and Mary Duffy; and close friends, Ernest and Anne King. He was predeceased by his wife, Bernice; his sons, James and Thomas; his grandson, Christopher Hiscoe; and his parents, Thomas and Evelyn Duffy.
A Christian burial service and a reception celebrating his life will be held at a later date in Maine.
