BANGOR – Olivette M. Hebert, 88, formerly of 51 Taft Ave., Auburn, passed away Wednesday evening, April 13, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 20, 1922, in Fort Kent, daughter of the late Louison and Alice Daigle Chasse.

She graduated from Fort Kent High School in 1940 and married Louis S. Hebert, Aug. 23, 1941. Prior to her retirement in 1974 she was employed at Shapiro Brothers Shoe Co. and was a seamstress at Lebel’s Bridal Shop, Auburn. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Bangor, and Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish at Sacred Heart Church, Auburn, where she was active in the Golden Age Club and did volunteer work at the church, church fairs and Catholic Charities of Maine. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, made afghans for Auburn Fire Department raffles and was a member of the “Knit Wits” knitting group at the assisted living residence where she resided in Bangor.

She is survived by two daughters, Louise Barstow and husband, Richard, of Ocala, Fla., and Patricia Richards and husband, Denis, of Gray; two sons, Dennis G. Hebert and wife, Marty, of Georges Mills, N.H., and David G. Hebert and wife, Andrea, of Niceville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a sister, Emelia Flannagan of Mapleton; many loving nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Anne; 11 brothers and three sisters.

Visitations 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Fortin/Auburn. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church, Auburn. Committal at St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Endowment, 24 Sacred Heart Place, Auburn, ME 04210 or a charity of your choice.
