WATERVILLE and EDDINGTON – Ruth P. Manzo, 74, wife of the late Earl “Tony” Manzo, died unexpectedly April 17, 2011, at her home in Waterville. She was born Sept. 16, 1938, in Martin’s Ferry, Ohio, the daughter of Russell A. and Alberetta (Spect) Garner.
Ruth will be missed dearly by her children, Joseph “Harold” Manzo, Irene Vigue, Tony Manzo and Danny Manzo. She was one of 16 children, and leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Ruth was predeceased by her daughter, Vicki Manzo.
Ruth was a very special person to many people, and was more than a mom, a sister, a grammy and even more than just a “Nana banana.” She loved visits from her family and friends, and her mornings were always filled with a good chat over a cup of coffee. She was everyone’s shoulder to lean on and always knew just what to say to cheer you up. She had quite the sense of humor and was known for random phone calls, which may have been anything from simple advice, a weather update or maybe just a good idea for something to cook.
Family and friends may visit 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, where a service honoring her life will be held 1 p.m. as the visitation concludes. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. Messages of condolence to her family may be offered at
