LUBEC and BRIGHTON, Mass. – Ruth Dean passed away April 19, 2011, at Oceanview Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 7, 1918, in Lubec, daughter of the late Lloyd Appleby and Eunice Avery Appleby.
She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Frank “Fritz” Appleby. She was a graduate of Lubec High School, and resided for many years in Brighton, Mass. She was a member of the greatest generation.
She is survived by her son, Thomas of Lubec; her brother, Alden Appleby and wife, Noella, of Dalhousie, New Brunswick; her loving granddaughter, Stacey Shimkus and her husband, Donald, of Arlington, Mass.; nephews, John Appleby and wife, Julie, Fritz Appleby Jr. and wife, Connie, and Paul Appleby and wife, Kathy; nieces, Margie King and husband, Peter, and Lynn Appleby; many family and friends.
