LUBEC – Annie May (Mitchell) Jones, 80, went to be with her Lord April 23, 2011, at a Lubec nursing home after a long illness. She was born May 25, 1930, on Campobello Island, New Brunswick, the daughter of Richard and Delia (Stewart) Mitchell.

She was a lady of great kindness, who truly appreciated the good in others, and all the splendors of God’s creations. She enjoyed all in nature, animals and her pets, taking car rides to go sightseeing, but especially children and her family.

She is survived and will be sadly missed by her five sons, James Sr., Grayson, Clarence, Ivan and Ernie; grandchildren, James Jr., Jennifer, Joseph, Joshlyn, Ashly and Isaiah; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Zachary; two brothers, Jimmy and Marvin Mitchell; two sisters, Marion and Evelyn; two half sisters, Bessie Kelly and Florence Lank; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Jane Anthony; a brother, Grayson; a sister, Lorna; and her stepfather, Dean Thistlewood.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 1 p.m. until the time of funeral services 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Christian Temple Church, Main Street, Lubec, with Pastor Dan Fritschle officiating. Interment will be after at Jones Family Cemetery, Trescott. All are then invited back to the church for a time of refreshment and celebration in the Mary S. Pike Hall. Arrangements are in care of McClure Family Funeral Services, Machias and Lubec.
