BAR HARBOR – Rebecca Ann Sargent, 51, passed away peacefully April 26, 2011, at Mount Desert Island Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 1, 1960, in Ellsworth, daughter of Edward R. and Rosemary T. (Porter) Sargent.
Becky attended Mount Desert Island High School and was a graduate of Thomas College, Waterville. She and her husband established Atkinson Builders together and helped many people fulfill their dreams of home ownership. Becky enjoyed the outdoors, taking walks, skiing, snowshoeing and swimming in Acadia. She will be remembered for her kind heart and thoughtfulness toward her family and friends. She was a wonderful mother and loved being involved with all of her children’s activities.
She is survived by her husband, John Atkinson of Bar Harbor; her parents of Ellsworth; two sons, Evans and Rhys Goff; sisters, Michelle Sargent of Florida, Nora Garland and husband, Bob, of Fletcher’s Landing, and Maryellen Lozano and husband, August, of Bar Harbor; brothers, Gregory E. Sargent and Robert P. Sargent, both of Fletcher’s Landing; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 231 Main St., Ellsworth, with Father Scott Mower, celebrant.
