LOVELAND, Colo., and VAN BUREN – Keith P. Cyr, 49, passed away April 26, 2011, in Loveland, Colo. He was born July 24, 1961, in Van Buren, the third child of Russell and Gloria Cyr.

Even at an early age, he was an avid sports enthusiast, racing his tricycle and suffering the first of many broken bones at age 2. He loved downhill skiing, snowmobiling, dirt bikes, go-carts, boats and water sports, and collected more than a few trophies in these areas. After finishing high school in Van Buren, he attended Ohio Institute of Technology, Columbus, Ohio, graduating with a degree in electronics technology. He then took a position at MiniScribe in 1983 in Longmont, Colo., and for the next six years worked as a test engineer for that company and its successor, Maxtor. In 1989 he began work for Flexstar of Longmont, Colo., as regional sales manager. Then in 2002 he acquired ownership interest in Flexstar and under his leadership expanded that company’s financial performance and success tenfold. In 2007 Keith retired at the young age of 45, when he was at last able to devote all of his time to his true passions – his family and home, and his never-ending desire for fun and adventure. He derived great pleasure and a sense of pride in all he had accomplished in his life. His latest projects included putting the finishing touches on his home and devoting many hours to landscaping his property. He always took the time to keep himself healthy and strong, spending endless hours at the gym.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Deniece Benesh Cyr; and his mother, Gloria P. Cyr. He leaves behind his children: daughter, Courtney Ann Cyr and son, Dylan Joseph Cyr; his father, Russell C. Cyr; his older sister, Lori C. Antz and her husband, Fred Wappler; his older brother, Charles R. Cyr; younger sister, Janet C. Helfrecht and her husband, Chris; younger brother, Myles D. Cyr; four nephews; and his beloved dog, Buddy. He had many, many friends, but will be especially missed by Mike and Ginger Buchner, Terri Ball and Annette Hopper; and his girlfriend, Christine Edwards.

A celebration of his life will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at First Christian Church, Loveland, Colo., with gathering afterward at Keith’s home, 1020 Charlotte Court, Loveland, Colo.
