HERMON – Marilyn F. Higgins, 85, passed away peacefully April 25, 2011, surrounded by her loving children. Marilyn was born July 17, 1925, in Bangor, daughter of the late Robert and Elsie (French) Fenlason.
Marilyn spent her childhood years in Bangor and most of her adult life in Hermon, before living at Woodlands Assisted Living, Brewer, for the last four years. She was an excellent, hardworking homemaker and mother, having raised seven children. In her early years she worked at Pine Tree Restaurant, Bangor. Marilyn and her husband, Norman “Tom” Higgins, owned and operated Higgins Well Drilling for many years. Marilyn and Tom enjoyed their family camp at West Lake and shared enthusiasm for snowmobiling. They were founding and active members of Penobscot Snowmobile Club, Hermon. After her husband’s death in 1982, she worked for Husson College and retired from Anzac Corp. Marilyn was very proud to have gone back to school and at age 59 earned her GED. Personally, Marilyn enjoyed bowling, knitting and crocheting, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Doreen Alcott of Florida, Darlene Helms and partner, John Trott, of Hampden, Rosanne Parrilla and husband, Tony, of Texas, Thomas E. Higgins and wife, Tammy, of Bangor and Norma Jean “Noni” Adams and husband, Bill, of Scarborough; grandchildren, Cheyne, Megan, Kelly, Nicholas V., Raymond Jr., Michelle, Amy, Kerri, Krista-Rae, Nicholas B., Maxim, Madisson, Jack and Kenneth; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma L.
