BIDDEFORD – Sister Edwina Pelletier, 88, died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at St. Joseph Convent, Biddeford. She was born June 22, 1922, in Van Buren, the fifth of eight children born to Benoit and Maud (Dube) Pelletier.

In February 1940, Edwina entered the Congregation of the Sister Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Good Shepherd Sisters of Quebec, Biddeford. Sister Edwina’s long teaching career of more than 40 years took her to St. Joseph School, Biddeford; Sacred Heart School, Caribou; Holy Rosary Academy, Donelson, Tenn.; St. Anne School, Lawrence, Mass.; and St. Theresa and Mount Carmel School, Methuen, Mass.

She is survived by one sister, Florine Crocker of Old Town; two brothers, Nelson Pelletier of Old Town and Robert Pelletier of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, at St. Joseph’s Convent, 409 Pool St., Biddeford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. in the Sisters’ Chapel.
