After the death of his mother, he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Delvina and Lesley Wakefield, in Ashland, along with six cousins he was proud to call his brothers and sisters. He especially loved his two families, often telling people he was the youngest of 14. He wanted his family and friends to laugh, joke and have a good time. He enjoyed traveling and was especially happy visiting family in Lewiston, Newburgh, N.Y., Panama City, Fla., Houston, Phoenix, Bristol, Conn., and of course the Cape!
