EAST MILLINOCKET – Frederick James Moore Jr., loving son, father, brother, cousin and friend to all, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 2, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. Fred was born July 3, 1953, in Millinocket, the son of Frederick Moore Sr. and Mary Dube Moore.

Fred graduated from Schenck High School, Class of 1973, and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. The only other pride aside from being a Marine was being a father and grandfather. A man of many smiles, laughs, hugs and beeps, and a friend to all who encountered him. Fred always put others first, and lived for what he did for others. He served his country proud and his family and friends even more. Fred spent 30 years as a papermaker and member of PACE International Union where he served as financial secretary. He was a proud member of Schenck High School Booster Club, school board, planning board and proud member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans, where he served as commander of Chapter 22. He enjoyed the days of bingo at Medway DAV, where he touched the lives of many. Fred loved riding around town with his best friend, Lady, and his flags on his vehicle, beeping the horn and waving to anyone and everyone he passed. He brought many smiles and laughs and touched so many lives with his loving heart and amazing personality.

Fred is survived by his two daughters whom he took pride in, Susan Marie Cerini and her husband, Christopher, and Fred’s granddog, Monique, all of Hampden, and Tina Lynn Moore and her boyfriend, Desmond Austin Jr., of East Millinocket and Desi’s three girls, Peggy Lynn, Deseree and Makayla Austin, to whom he was Papa. Even though the proudest years of his life was being a father, there was an even greater joy in being a grandfather. Fred leaves behind three grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, James Frederick Moore, Noah Patrick Moore and Isabella Rian Moore. Fred leaves behind a sister, Tamra Blackburn; a brother, Ricky Moore Sr. and his son, Ricky Moore Jr.; the mother of his children, Ho Ja Jang and her daughter, Julia Jang, who was just as much a daughter to Fred; his special dog and companion, Lady; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his son-in-law’s family that integrated into his own. He was met at the gates of heaven by his son, Frederick James Moore III; his loving parents, Mary and Fred; and an infant brother. The family sends special thanks out to the ambulance crew, life flight, the wonderful nurses in the intensive care unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center; the special family and friends who sat with the family and helped them through some very difficult decisions; as well as the caring of the grandkids during this time. As difficult as it was to say goodbye, Fred would want you to be smiling, waving and laughing about all the memories and good times you shared with him.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 6, at Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 2 Orchard St., East Millinocket, with the Rev. Regginal Adams, pastor, officiating. Interment with military honors will be at East Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Fred may be sent to Toys for Tots, 54 Faloon Road, Woodville, ME 04457 or Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462.
