Photographer Dave Small of Old Town has been out and about lately duly noting the arrival of spring and some of its critters. The great egret, a large, stately white heron with a yellow bill, stopped by a small pond off Gilman Falls Avenue for a visit. The snapping turtle was crossing Route 2 near Carmel and got an assist from Small. the Eastern red-spotted newt and the Eastern red-backed salamander popped out of hiding for a quick picture as did the American robin.
Spring has sprung
