HANCOCK – Barbara Gray Poors, 52, passed away May 2, 2011, at a Bangor hospital, after a brutal battle with cancer that started in February of this year. She was born Oct. 4, 1958, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Shirley and Virginia Gray.
Barbara was a loving person, never complained, was extremely humble and was a great listener. She worked at a number of places in and around the Ellsworth area during the last 30 years where people remember her as kind, gentle and patient.
She was a devoted wife to Laurel Poors; and mother to daughter, Jennifer Poors. She is also survived by her mother, Virginia M. Gray of Hancock; brother, Carl Dannenburg and wife, Judie, of Surry; sisters, Linda Harmon and companion, Fred Crowley, of Columbia Falls, Dorothy Grant and husband, Myron, of Eastbrook, Sheila Gray and companion, Henri DesRosiers, of Brewer and Mary Teasley and husband, Wayne, of Smyrna, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Bruce Clark of Ellsworth; stepchildren, Daniel Poors and companion, Stephanie Scott, and her two sons, Jedd and Landen, of Ellsworth; stepdaughter, Kimberly Poors of Hancock and stepgranddaughter, Jessica Poors; father-in-law, Bryant Poors of Ellsworth, who adored her; several nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her two very special dogs, Abby and Jack. She was predeceased by her father.
A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at Union Congregational Church of Ellsworth Falls, UCC with the Rev. Emily Taylor officiating. Condolences may be expressed at
