LINCOLN – Daniel W. Cole, 71, husband of Mabel (Lee) Cole, passed away May 10, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 4, 1939, in Lincoln, the son of Norman and Sylda (Ryder) Cole.
Danny received the first Inspirational Award given by Lee Academy and he was truly an inspiration to all who knew him. He attended electronics school and became one of the first certified electronics technicians in the state. He repaired TVs and other electronic devices, and owned his own repair shop for many years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, who was affectionately known to his grandchildren as “Gug.”
In addition to his wife, Mabel, he is survived by four children, Shirley Harvey and Robert of East Winn, Jeanne Gallway and Jay of Pittsfield, Daniel Cole Jr. of Clarksville, Tenn., and Suzanne Reed and Leon of Unionville, Conn.; 13 grandchildren, Cristi Harvey Peters, Eric Thibault, Danielle Thibault, Taylor Gallway, Brooke Gallway, Gavin Gallway, Daniel W. Cole III, Patrick Cole, Michelle Cole, Jennifer Roy, Lisa Phillips, Kristin Kuszaj and Meaghan Reed; two sisters, Sandra Furrow and Linda Crosby; nine great-grandchildren; many, many nieces and nephews. He leaves a very cherished friend, they called each other “brother,” Brian Storrman. He also leaves many special friends in Zephyrhills, Fla. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Lori Harvey; brother, Norman Cole Jr.; and sister, Mary Cole.
Graveside services will be held noon Saturday, May 14, at East Winn Cemetery with the Rev. Mark W. York officiating. There will be a gathering at the home of Shirley & Bob Harvey. All are welcome.
