MANSFIELD, Conn. — Nick Grady knocked in three runs with a home run, a triple and a single to spark fifth-seeded Southern Maine of Gorham to a 9-4 Little East Conference first-round baseball victory over No. 2 UMass Boston on Wednesday.
Southern Maine (22-17) plays the Keene State-UMass Dartmouth winner Thursday evening.
Mike Eaton rapped three singles, David Ricker plated two runs with a single and Anthony Pisani hit a run-scoring double for the Huskies. Ben Ives scattered 12 hits over 7 2/3 innings to earn the win.
Ryan Walsh collected a double and three singles for the Beacons (18-21). Christos Ferreira singled three times.

Bates sweeps St. Joseph’s
At Lewiston, three pitchers combined to limit the Monks to eight hits as the the Bobcats registered a season-ending doubleheader sweep.
Bates won the opener 6-2 and took the second game 9-1.
In the first game, Ryan Sonberg knocked in two runs with two singles to pace Bates (21-15). Mike Antonellis combined with Michael Spinosa on a five-hitter.
Chris Burke hit a solo home run and two singles for the winners.
Todd Keneborous stroked a solo homer and a double to lead Saint Joseph’s of Standish (30-13).
In the second game, Paul Chiampa fashioned a three-hitter and was backed by 12 hits. Chris Burke doubled and singled with two RBIs, while Pat Murphy and Mike Ciummei added two singles and two RBIs each.
Mike Pratt slammed a solo home run for the Monks.
