WESTFIELD – Geraldine A. Laing, 74, went to meet her Lord Thursday, May 12, 2011, while surrounded by her family at her residence. She was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Westfield, the daughter of Guy and Elizabeth (Burtchell) Winship.

Gerry’s faith was very important to her and she loved doing the work of her Lord. She attended Church of Jesus, Chapman Street, for years and was very active in the church as a song leader. She was president of the Ladies Auxiliary, as well as many other things.

She is survived by her husband, David Laing; a daughter, Goldina Brown and her husband, Ray, of Presque Isle; a son, David Laing of Westfield; three grandchildren, Michael Brown of Rockland, Colleen Brown and her boyfriend, D.J. Burby, of Presque Isle and Ryan Laing LaBounty of Raleigh, N.C.; and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind three sisters, Pearl Peluso, Virginia Brown and Pauline Davenport, all of Presque Isle; a brother, Emerson Winship of Presque Isle; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Patterson; and a great-granddaughter, Heidi Simon.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Mark Carter officiating. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of service. A reception will be held after the service at Church of Jesus, Chapman Street.
