DANFORTH — The 20 mile East Grand Adventure Race in Danforth last Saturday, May 14, had 40 teens and 24 adults taking part in eight divisions.
This year’s adventure race began on Stetson Mountain and ended in Danforth on the Baskahegan Stream included a compass run, mountain biking, canoeing, climbing wall and bog challenge.
The annual event was hosted by the East Grand School’s Outdoor Education program and sponsored in part by Ski Rack Sports of Bangor and First Wind. Jeff Owen and Mark Rowe of Orono won this year’s East Grand Adventure Race with a time of 2:48:53. The pair entered the event in the open division which included anything from race boats, kayaks, solo, relay teams.

Orono High School and East Grand School have active programs engaging students in the outdoors that promote exercise while building confidence and developing outdoor skills that are life long.
