SIDNEY – Marilyn Humphrey, 78, passed away May 4, 2011, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 1, 1932, in Presque Isle, daughter of Elbridge B. Ford and Pearl Etta (Cyr) Ford.
She attended schools in Presque Isle and graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1950. On April 23, 1960, she married James E. Humphrey. Marilyn began her career in customer service working for New England Telephone and Telegraph Co., Presque Isle. She later went on to work for Dead River Oil Co., Northeast Publishing and H&R Block. Marilyn retired after having worked in the Waterville Call Center for L.L. Bean, where she thoroughly enjoyed the interaction with the public. Marilyn enjoyed traveling with friends, especially to Las Vegas, Florida and Bermuda.
Marilyn is survived by her loving children, Jerome Humphrey and his wife, Danita, of Halethorpe, Md., and Sandy Kinney and her husband, Duncan, of Sidney. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews; a special nephew, Paul Ford and his family of York; and her dear friend, Wilma Dempsey. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Jim, in 1971; her parents; and two brothers, Elbridge B. Ford II and Merrill Ford.
