NEWPORT – Roger S. Cole Sr., 78, died May 18, 2011, at a Waterville nursing home. He was born Nov. 16, 1932, in Albion, a son of Ruben and Bertha (Webber) Cole.
He had been employed for more than 23 years for the town of Newport, retiring in 2005.
He is survived by three sons, Timothy and wife, Stacey Cole, of Doswell, Va., Roger Cole Jr. of Canaan and Steven Cole of China; four daughters, Sally Funk of Meriden, Conn., Martha Rowe of Palmyra, Marlena Vanadestine of Pittsfield and Natalie Labbe of Shawmut; two brothers, Richard Cole of Albion and Thomas Cole of Oakland; two sisters, Beverly Hayes and Jennie Gould, both of Albion; 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen, in 1993.
A memorial service will be held 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Newport.
