SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Police in South Berwick, Maine, say a naked man got behind the wheel of a dump truck and deliberately crashed it into a condominium after getting into a confrontation at a party.
Police say 24-year-old Eli Hutchins of Lovell was charged Wednesday night with driving under the influence, assault and aggravated criminal mischief.
Investigators say Hutchins immediately got into a fight with the condominium’s occupant after crashing into the home late Wednesday. The victim fought back with a hammer.
Chief Dana Lajoie told the Portland Press Herald that the dump truck came to a stop 15 feet from a bed where the victim’s 7-year-old son was sleeping. Hutchins was being held Thursday at the York County Jail. It was unclear whether he had an attorney.
