A Brewer couple was charged on Saturday with false reporting of a crime after they called police to report their home had been burglarized. According to Cpl. Nelson Feero of the Brewer Police Department, officers responded at about 2 p.m. to a complaint from 32-year-old Jason Ludden and 30-year-old Jillian McCann that their Rinfret Street home had been broken into and cash, prescription drugs and other property were missing.

“The way they described the things that had happened and the way the scene looked, it just didn’t add up,” Feero said. Officers subsequently discovered some of the property that had been reported missing, and the couple was charged with false public reporting, falsifying physical evidence and making unsworn falsifications. A court date is set for July 20.
