LEVANT – Beryle M. (Clement) Higgins, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died May 28, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Levant. She was born Aug. 10, 1926, in Levant, the daughter of Lloyd G. and Marion (Ames) Clement.
Beryle graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1945. She was a member of Good Samaritan Chapter No. 38, Order of the Eastern Star, Kenduskeag, for several years and was worthy matron from 1951 to 1953. She received a lifelong pin. Beryle was tax collector for the town of Levant for 19 years and ballot clerk for many years. She enjoyed greeting the people of Levant each year. Beryle was a member of the former Levant Village Baptist Church, now Harvest Chapel. She served on many committees and was choir director for 30 years, a service she dearly loved.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Sidney; one son, Dennis and his wife, Karen Higgins, of Levant; two daughters and their husbands, Rhonda and Steven Libby of Holden and Gayle and Brian Libby of Levant; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Bryan and Judy Higgins, Denys and John Byrum, Amanda and Travis Dandro, Justin Libby and Max Ward, Ashlee and Ryan Lynch, Angie and Eion Pelletier, and Bradley and Denise Libby; 11 great-grandchildren, Samantha and Rebeka Bullard, Leah Higgins, Lauren and Rachel Byrum, Isaac, Wyeth and Miles Dandro, Feleke and Isabella Lynch and Collin Pelletier; brother-in-law, Carleton Hodgdon; sister and husband, Sally and Wayne Getchell; special niece, Beth Robinson; many dear nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Galen Clement; and a sister, Faye Hodgdon.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Stephen Hall, pastor of Harvest Chapel, Levant, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call noon until the time of service Thursday. Interment will be at Waugh Cemetery, Levant.
