Ryan McLaughlin’s report on the PVC Small School Track and Field Championships (BDN, May 28) stated: “The Orono boys should claim their second title in as many years barring a collapse as the Red Riots held at 116-47 lead over Foxcroft heading into the 3200.”
The Orono boys have already scored 116 points with only two events to be run. The second-place team has 47 points. If Foxcroft swept the 3200, they would score 31 points and if they also won the 4×400 relay, they would score another 10 points.
My “old math” gives Foxcroft a total of 88 points to Orono’s 116 points. Unless my “old math” is somehow out of date, I think Orono would win even if they didn’t show up on Tuesday which is unlikely because I know Chris Libby and the entire coaching staff and they are a class act.
