HERMON – Marian A. (Villard) Burgess, 82, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 26, 1928, in Rochester, N.H., the daughter of John and Edythe (Langmaid) Gray.
Marian grew up in Rochester, N.H., and attended local schools. She spent the majority of her years as a full-time mother and caregiver to many. Marian had many hobbies including puzzles and reading. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family, and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.
She is survived by her loving husband, George Burgess; children, Donna Darcangelo and her husband, Vincent, of Hermitage, Pa., Mary-Ann Bouchard and her partner, Goldie Perkins, of Bucksport, Jo-Ann Brown and her husband, Glenn, of Palmyra, Charles Villard of Bangor, and Kathy Villard of San Jose, Calif.; siblings, Robert Gray and his wife, Marilyn, of Dover, N.H., Fred Gray and his wife, Terry, of Union, N.H., and Bette Hiltz and her husband, Tom, of Malden, Mass.; grandchildren, Vince II and his partner, Grace, Charlie and his wife, Sheena, Kristin and her husband, Chris, Jessica, Donnie, Eddie and his partner, Dianna, and Nick and his partner, Lexus; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Cameron, Dylan, Angela and Kaycie; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Marian was predeceased by her first husband, Donald Villard; daughter, Diane Villard; and brothers, John, Frank and Arthur “Peanut” Gray.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Friends are welcome to call noon until the time of service. After the service, the family invites friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
