EDDINGTON – Charlotte M. Derau, 81, beloved wife, mother, sister and nana, passed away June 2, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at her home. Charlotte was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Bangor, the daughter of Gertude and Frederick Bryant.
She married her beloved husband, Frederick “Mickey” Derau, Aug. 6, 1954, and together they built their home in Eddington, where they raised their three children. Charlotte loved to bake, knit and crochet for her family and friends, and her most memorable times where those spent with her family at Old Orchard Beach.
Charlotte “Princess Pine” was predeceased by her loving husband, May 30, 2008. Surviving are her three loving children, Cheryl Swedberg and her husband, Roger, of Old Town, Susan Derau of Eddington and Frederick “Mickey” Derau Jr. and Dennis Hunt of Eddington. She is also survived by two sisters, Nina Cleland and Loretta Richter; three brothers, George Bryant, Walter Bryant and John Bryant; special niece, Ellen Plissy and her family of Georgia; sister-in-law, Marion Touhy of Massachusetts; many nieces and nephews. Charlotte was the proud Nana to Roger, Melissa, Ethan, Rachel, Noah, Hannah, Abby, Ben and Terri; great-grandmother to Faith; and special friend to the Bouliers. The family extends thanks to the following special people: Wayne Getchell, Graham, Phil, Heidi, Laurie, Doreen, Sharon, Greg, Tony and Mike, the entire staff of Eastern Maine Medical Center Dialysis Unit, and Angela Geroux.
A graveside service will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, June 9, at Meadowbrook Cemetery, Route 9, Eddington, with the Rev. Roger E. Tracy, officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. Messages of condolence and memories may be shared through
