ELLSWORTH – Joseph George Cloak, 76, died June 4, 2011, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 23, 1934, in Philadelphia, the son of Joseph and Catherine Elizabeth (Redman) Cloak.

Joseph served in the U.S. Air Force. He owned and operated Joseph’s Hair Fashions, Ellsworth, for 40 years. Joseph was a cook at various restaurants and a truck driver. He enjoyed outings with the family, outdoor activities, loved to cook, liked to read and watch TV, and had a great sense of humor. He was a vivid storyteller and was well liked by the community and greatly loved by his family. Joseph was a member of the Rotary Club, the 40 and 8, and was a proud member of American Legion Color Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Alice (Lawson) Cloak of Ellsworth; two sons, Perry Cloak of Trenton and Jeffrey Cloak of Ellsworth; three daughters, Mary Barreca and husband, Todd, of Orlando, Fla., Linda Norris and husband, Mark, of Stetson and Vera Osier of Trenton; two sisters, Teresa and Barbara of Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Joseph Cloak Jr.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellsworth, with Father Scott Mower presiding. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Ellsworth, performed by American Legion Color Guard and his granddaughter, Erin Ryan, of Maine Air National Honor Guard.
