GUILFORD – Hilda J. Lankist, 95, wife of the late William L. Lankist, passed away peacefully June 8, 2011, at Dexter Health Care. She was born May 19, 1916, in Guilford, daughter of Linwood M. and Helen J. (Emerson) Priest.
Hilda worked for many years at Crockett Bakery and retired from Hardwood Products, Guilford. She was a former member of Rebekah’s, Ladies Catholic Club, and Piscataquis Pomona and South Sangerville Grange, where she had served in several positions. She enjoyed her membership in Guilford Historical Society and Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society, and especially in the antique car club, “The Dusters.”
She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, William; a son, Kenneth H. Lankist; two sisters, Shirley Carlson and Margaret Gavett; and a brother, Harold H. Priest. She is survived by three sons, William and his wife, Darlene, of China Village, Frank W. and his wife, Helen, of Enterprise, Ala., and Edward E. of Guilford; a sister, Ethel Hersey of Dover-Foxcroft; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Stanley Lockwood. She will be sadly missed her dog, Auburn.
A memorial Mass will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Dover-Foxcroft, with Father Kent Ouellette, celebrant.
