ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., and LINCOLN – Ruth C. Powers, daughter of Harold Cust and Estelle (Durand) Cust, lost her battle with cancer Jan. 16, 2011.

She was predeceased by her husband, John S. Powers, after spending 50 years together. Ruth enjoyed a full life with her family and friends. She enjoyed family gatherings and prepared enough food to feed her army. Ruth enjoyed camping, snowmobiling and bingo. “Gram,” as we all called her, loved chocolate and Maine lobster.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and William Crocker; her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Marybelle Powers; her grandchildren, Dawn and Les Mease, William and Abbie Crocker, Jana and Amon Rolerson, John and Crystal Crocker, Celina and Jason Curtis and Jamie and Dolly Powers; her great-grandchildren, Bobbie Jo Bracamonte, Dominique Logan, Dana and Andrea Crocker, Marcus and Evan Rolerson, Andrew and Kaleb Crocker, Jude and Leila Powers and Alexandrea Curtis; and a special friend, Lisa Helm. Ruth is also survived by her sister, Helen Guay and brother-in-law, Ed Guay; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and her brother, William Cust.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Lincoln Cemetery. Those who wish may sign an online register and leave written condolences at
